HIGHLIGHTED PRODUCT!

MOLD & MILDEW   KILLING GROUT

    S-687

S-687 unsanded wall grout has apparently been one of the best-kept secrets in the grout industry.

For about the price of one bottle of the expensive mold and mildew removers, your grout lines in your shower will stay free of mold and mildew! While other wall grouts claim not to support the growth of mold and mildew, S-687 wall grout actually contains an EPA registered fungicide, that kills the most prevalent types of fungus and mildew. This includes black mold, which can stain or discolor grout joints. Mold and mildew do not grow on the cement grout joints themselves, it grows on the soap scum, fats, oils and skin particles which embed themselves in the grout.

S-687's fungicide will kill the mold and mildew as it forms on the grout surface, keeping the grout mold and mildew free without the need for mold and mildew cleaners. Ask your local Summitville representative for more details.

HELPFUL
TIPS

Here are some tips to remember, while setting tile in cool weather.

  • Cement grout and mortar installation materials should be kept at a minimum of 50°F for 12 hours prior to use. The minimum ambient and surface temperature at the time of installation is 50°F.

  • Surface temperature comes into significant play in cure time and must be above 50°F.
  • Never allow liquid latex to freeze. If latex does become frozen keep it frozen until ready to use, then allow it to warm to room temperature for 12 hours before using. Examine the latex before using. If the latex resembles "cottage cheese", smells like spoiled milk or has separated into two or more layers, do not use. If you are unsure, contact Summitville Labs, Inc for instructions on your frozen latex.

QUESTION
CORNER

Q. Yesterday, after I grouted the tile, I cleaned up the floor thoroughly. Today I have a grout haze, Why?

ANSWER
The floor was not completely cured on the first day. The haze shows up as a film of cement residue as it cures. The ceramic tile can generally be buffed with a clean soft cloth on the third day to help remove the haze. With latex haze, there is no magic formula to remove the haze. It takes rubbing action to remove it. SL-86 will help soften the latex film, but it should be vacuumed from the floor using a shop vacuum. Wait at least one week before cleaning the haze with mild acetic cleaner such as Summitville's SL-70 sulfamic acid crystals. Caution: Muriatic Acid should never be used on ceramic tile and grout installations!!
