SL-150 SUMMIT GROUT STAIN

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Summitville's SL-150 grout colorant is an aqueous modified epoxy emulsion designed for use on cementitious grouts as well as epoxy grout systems.

USES:

SL-150 grout colorant is manufactured for use on countertops, floors and walls, on interior or exterior installations. Other tiled areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, showers, patios, entryways, courtyards.

IMPORTANT! READ INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE USING.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

To insure complete bond, existing grout joints must be clean, dry and free from dust or contaminants that may prevent proper bonding. Acrylic sealers must be removed from grout joints with a stripper/cleaner such as SL-86. Soiled joints must be cleaned with an acidic cleaner such as SL-7 (do not use acid cleaners on sensitive glazed tiles) or all purpose "grout cleaner." New grout installations must have a minimum 48 hour cure before SL-150 grout colorant is applied. Porous tile may require sealing to prevent SL-150 grout colorant from being absorbed into tile.

APPLICATION TEST AREA PROCEDURE:

IMPORTANT! (Be sure to always test a small area for clean-up time.)

Apply SL-150 grout colorant to a small area to determine clean-up from tile surface. Allow colorant to set for 2 hours. Colorant can be removed from joints easily, allow to cure until colorant adheres to grout joint and can be removed from tile with water and white nylon scrub pad. Allow test area to cure 24 hours then inspect grout joints for appearance, coverage and proper bonding. It is the responsibility of the user to determine that an adequate bond has been achieved before doing a large area. SL-150 grout colorant will not wash off, using normal cleaning methods, if adequate bond has been achieved.

APPLICATION:

(Shake well before use)

  1. Pour 1 to 2 ozs. of SL-150 grout colorant into a small open dish or container.
  2. SL-150 grout colorant may be applied with a medium bristle toothbrush or small paint brush. Dip brush into colorant and apply directly onto grout joint with back and forth motion to insure joint coverage.
  3. Work neatly to limit the amount of colorant that gets on tile. If desired, joints may be masked with masking tape.
  4. After grout has dried 2 hours or more, clean surface, using clean water and a white nylon scrub pad. Be careful not to scrub joints directly. Use plenty of water with light scrub motion on tile. Your original test area will indicate the optimum cure time for easiest clean-up.
  5. In going from a dark to a light grout color, more than one application may be necessary. Apply in thin coats. Allow a minimum of 60 minutes drying time between coats.

DRYING TIME:

Floor surface can accept light traffic within 4 hours if grout joints are recessed. Avoid heavy scrubbing of grout joints for a minimum of 20 days to allow the epoxy emulsion to reach full cure and maximum durability.

MAINTENANCE:

For routine maintenance, clean surface with grout maintenance cleaners such as SL-33. Do not use solvent based cleaners. If grout appears to be worn, clean and rinse thoroughly. Allow surface to dry, then reapply SL-150 grout colorant to touch up grout joints as necessary.

Store in a cool, dry place. Temperature should not exceed 110 degrees F (43 C). DO NOT ALLOW TO FREEZE.
