S-400 EZ FLOW GROUTING EPOXY

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

S-400 EZ is a Tile Council of America formula AARII-HT, epoxy mortar and grout that meets or exceeds requirements of ANSI A118.3 and is USDA approved. S-400 EZ is a self-leveling, easy flow formula designed for horizontal surfaces and joints of 1/8" or less.

EZ Flow can be used for an epoxy topping to remodel and improve existing cement bond grout installations on horizontal surfaces.

S-400 EZ Flow is a two-part 100% solid epoxy system formulated to resist many acids, alkalies as well as oil, grease and bacteria.

USES:

S-400 EZ Flow is recommended for setting and grouting quarry tile and floor brick in food processing plants, dairies, breweries, distilleries, refineries, chemical laboratories, etc.

S-400 EZ Flow is also used to repair existing cement based grout joints on horizontal surfaces.

LIMITATIONS:

S-400 EZ Flow is not recommended for high exposure levels of alkalies or organic acids.

For setting tile, substrate surface must be reasonably flat.

S-400 EZ Flow designed for horizontal surfaces only.

INSTALLATION:

Substrate: Substrate must be structurally sound, dry, free from sealers, coatings, oil, grease or dust. Plywood should be prepared according to Tile Council method F 143. Concrete should be in accordance with Tile Council method F 131.

Mixing: S-400 EZ is furnished in 2 parts and exact, proportioning, thorough mixing of the parts with one another is absolutely essential for satisfactory curing and performance. Empty contents of Part A (liquid portion) into mixing bucket, add Part B (solid portion) gradually and mix thoroughly using either hand tools or a slow speed power mixer. Care should be taken to avoid whipping air into the mix. Mix until smooth and free of lumps. It is highly recommended that complete units be mixed at a time; however, if necessary to split a unit, weigh out 3 parts of Part B to 1 part of Part A. Clean tools with warm water immediately after use.

S-400 EZ is ideally installed at temperatures from 70 degrees to 80 degrees F. At higher temperatures, the pot life, open time and clean-up time are reduced; however, it is more fluid and easier to work. At lower temperatures these factors are reversed. Working surface temperature can vary from room temperature and should be taken into consideration. Do not begin application of S-400 EZ until the temperature of the room and substrate is above 50 degrees F and rising. Maintain a temperature of 60 degrees F or higher during the curing period.

Clean-Up
Temperature Pot Life Open Time Time Set Time
60 degrees F (16 degrees C) 11/2 hrs. 31/2 hrs. 11/2 hrs. 24-30 hrs.
75 degrees F (24 degrees C) 1 hrs. 21/4 hrs. 1 hr. 16-20 hrs.
90 degrees F (32 degrees C) 1/2 hrs. 11/2 hrs. 1/2 hrs. 12-14 hrs.

APPLICATION:

As a Grout: Use a firm straight edge rubber trowel to distribute S-400 EZ into tile joints before the S-400 EZ starts to thicken, remove excess grout from tile face with the rubber trowel in a squeegee fashion, working diagonally to joints to facilitate removal without pulling grout from joints.

For final clean-up, use Scotch-Brite pad and a minimum amount of water. Warm water with mild soap added will speed clean-up. Clean completely as S-400 EZ is very difficult to remove after it begins to set.

As Grout Repair: To improve or repair cement-based grout, remove existing grout a minimum of 1/4" below tile surface. Clean dust from tile joints and apply grout per grouting procedure outline.

CAUTION:

PROTECT FROM ALL TRAFFIC FOR 40 HOURS, HEAVY TRAFFIC FOR 7 DAYS.

PROTECTING NEW TILEWORK:

To avoid damage to finished tilework, schedule floor installations to begin only after all structural work, building enclosure, and overhead finishing work, such as ceilings, painting, mechanical and electrical work are completed. Keep all traffic off of finished tile floors until it has fully cured, or provide up to 3/4" thick plywood protection over Kraft paper to protect floors before installation materials have fully cured.

CLEAN-UP:

Final clean-up, use Scotch-Brite pad and plenty of cool to warm (not hot) water.
