S-2200 SELF-LEVELING UNDERLAYMENT

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

S-2200 is a selected cement blend, aggregate and other materials, that when mixed with water becomes a liquid material which will seek its own level and produces a smooth flat surface. S-2200 sets fast, does not crack, shrink or spall and is water resistant. S-2200 has excellent adhesion, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, tensile strength and flexural strength properties. S-2200 is easy to install, may be poured or pumped, and can be walked on after 2-4 hours. With S-2200 floor coverings may be installed 12-14 hours after installation under normal conditions.

USES:

S-2200 is used to level floors prior to installing ceramic tile, slate, carpet, resilient flooring, athletic floors, wooden parquet, etc. S-2200 may be used over prepared old concrete, quarry tile, ceramic tile, Terrazzo, cut back and adhesive residue, old wooden floors, steel decking and epoxy coatings.

LIMITATIONS:

S-2200 is designed for indoor installations. S-2200 CANNOT BE INSTALLED BELOW 40 degrees F. Moisture sensitive floor covering and adhesive should not be applied until S-2200 reaches a low moisture emission level. Water or fresh mortar cannot be added to S-2200 that has started to set. Surface must be protected from low humidity, high room temperatures or sun exposure. As soon as surface can be walked on, it should be covered. Heating systems should be turned down.

INSTALLATION:

Tools: When installing S-2200 use a CLEAN mixing container, heavy duty 1/2" electric drill (300 RPM), mixing paddle, long handled gauged spreader, and smoother for feather edging, etc. NOTE: wearing of cleated shoes is recommended to prevent leaving marks in the freshly poured surface.

Substrate: Substrate must be structurally sound, free of all dirt, dust, oil, wax, curing compounds, from release agents, efflorescence and loose debris before application of primer.

All surfaces must be primed with SP-888 before application of S-2200. IMPORTANT: Follow directions on SP-888 primer container. Wooden subfloors must be firm and rigid with a minimum thickness of 1". Floor deflection must not exceed 1/360 of the span, including live and dead load. Patch holes and cracks and renail any loose boards. Staple 1/4" galvanized diamond metal lath to the floor. Apply SP-888 primer according to primer directions. Test areas should be performed when installation is over cut back and other adhesive residues.

Mixing: Pour 6 1/2 quarts of water into clean container, then slowly add 1 bag of S-2200 while mixing with heavy duty 1/2" electric drill at approximately 300 RPM. Mix thoroughly for 2 minutes to obtain a lump-free consistency. DO NOT over water or over mix because this will cause product to have lower strength.

APPLICATION:

Allow mixed batch to set 2-3 minutes before pouring. Pour or pump S-2200 and spread in place, as required with gauged spreader. Use spreading tool for touch up and feather edging. If a second or finish coat of S-2200 is required, it should be installed immediately after the first layer has set to walkable hardness. If the first layer has been allowed to dry, reprime the surface with SP-888 primer before second layer is applied.

CAUTION:

Working time will be reduced at high temperatures and sun exposure. Metal lath must be used over wood subfloors - minimum thickness of S-2200 is 1/4". For areas where the thickness of the underlayment will exceed 1/2", it is recommended mixing S-2200 with water, then add 1/2 part by volume of well washed and graded fine gravel size 1/8" to 1/4". If aggregate is wet, reduce the amount of mixing water to prevent over watering. 1/3 part by volume of clean, dry, coarse sand may be used in place of specified fine gravel.

CURING:

S-2200 will dry to walkable hardness in 2-4 hours. Most floor coverings may be installed 12-16 hours after pour. S-2200 should be protected to prevent rapid water loss under hot, dry or windy conditions.

COVERAGE:

One bag of S-2200 will cover approximately 60 sq. ft. at 1/8" thickness.

CLEAN-UP:

Clean tools and equipment with water before S-2200 dries.
